He may be afraid to talk about it. Part of the problem is that it's not very acceptable in our society for a man to bear his soul like that, so to speak. And often the guys are told by the military hierarchy that they cannot talk about the things that happened in the war zone. That kind of stuff is hard to overcome, even after many years later. But the more trust there is in your relationship, the more likely he'll talk about it. It helps if he knows you won't discuss it with anyone else.
